Who would have thought that student life would be this busy? My life has been non stop the past couple of months. Between classes, my job in the church, my family and friends, and the many responsibilities I have taken on, I haven't had much time to make a new post. Here is what I have been up to lately: Cursillo #1 For those of you who haven´t heard about Cursillo, this is a movement that helps Christians to discover their gifts, to use them and to give life to the church. It all starts with a weekend retreat but it is a life commitment of getting to know yourself better and understanding what God wants from you, your family and your community. The Episcopal church of Ecuador didn´t have a Cursillo ministry but thanks to the initiative of the Happening committee, the Vivanco family, the support of our Bishop and help from the Dioceses of Upper South Carolina, USA. The past couple of months I’ve been thinking about my calling and if I am the right person to serve in the name of the Lord.  I am not the perfect person, I make mistakes, I get mad, I am impatient sometimes and I could keep listing the things I am not good at but if I am sure of something is that I am really good at loving Jesus the best I can and showing His people love and respect. I’m still learning how to love and I’m still learning how to listen God’s small voice. It is not easy because there are moments when I feel way too small to make a difference and I ask: is it I lord? is it I the one who is going to change something in this world? Is it I the one who is going to share your gospel and never give up? - HIS answer is always yes. He has been teaching me that it doesn’t matter where you come from, your language, your past, your mistakes, etc. but what matters is a heart willing to serve the people around you. I used to go to the church but I wasn’t really involved, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life, I knew my family wanted me to find a job but I wasn’t really sure about that.  I prayed that I could find something I could be good at, I wanted to do something more but I didn’t know what it was. I prayed to God and asked him ¿what do you want from me? ¿What should I do? It was a Sunday morning during the service when God answered my prayers, I was sitting in the first row of the church and Mother Lourdes was preaching about how to be a good Christian, the service and the mission we have in this world. The past three months has been challenging, demanding, intense, stressful but full of love and the Holy Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ.  a few months ago me and 5 members of my Church were select to go in a Mission trip to the United States, we could not believe it, immediately we started with all the paperwork to make our dream happen. the dream of visit our friends, meet new people, learn about the  culture of  the States and get to know Christ in a different way. Sadly I was the only one who got the visa from the team. and obviously  my fist thought was: I am not going without my friends, it's not gonna be the same. I was praying to God and asking : Why am I the only one who has been selected to go there, Why me? I don't deserve it. Why? but the Lord has been teaching me in the past two months that He didn't select me but He selected all of us. that it is not about me but it's about Him and about the people out there looking for a guide in this world...

April and May brought so much happiness into the Cristo Community, we had  a lot of work to do with the kids, youth, elderly, women and now with the new men group during the Holy week.  We also Celebrated the resurrection of our Saviour from the dead, and for this special occasion the kids and I prepared a choreography in honor to our God. the women group prepared a special meal that it's called Fanesca, which is a traditional Ecuadorian soup it is typically prepared and served only in the week before Easter, it contains 12 different kinds of beans in representation of the twelve disciples of Jesus, fish, eggs,fried plantains, fava beans, lupines lentils, peas, etc. We shared this meal with the Cristo Community in Sunday and everybody was really happy that we had the chance to share a big meal as a real family.
