Believe. Achieve. Succeed
I'm officially a college student you guys.! thank you for be part of my journey and for trust in me.
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11
When I first
graduate from High school my first thought was ¿what now? I used to go to the
church but I wasn’t really involved, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my
life, I knew my family wanted me to find a job but I wasn’t really sure about
that. I prayed that I could find
something I could be good at, I wanted to do something more but I didn’t know what
it was. I prayed to God and asked him ¿what do you want from me? ¿What should I
do?
It was a Sunday morning
during the service when God answered my prayers, I was sitting in the first row
of the church and Mother Lourdes was preaching about how to be a good Christian,
the service and the mission we have in this world. After the Eucharist she made
an invitation, she told us that she needed volunteers to go help in the church
with the breakfast for the elderly. Then I thought: Hey, that may be a good
idea, I don’t have anything else to do so I should go help them, but what I
didn’t know was that they were going to help me instead and they were going to
change my life.
While I was working at Cristo church I experienced a different reality,
I experienced a different level of poverty and need, the need for love, health
care, education, the need for God. I realized How blind I was, I didn’t want to
see how people treat others for their different skin color, different believing’s,
different countries or different economic positions because it hurts to see it and
it hurts to face reality. The community of Cristo Liberador church became my
family and as a family I wanted to help them, I wanted to become someone they could trust with, someone who could be there when they need it, someone who could
take care of them while there are sick, someone who could share the good news
and who could share the love of God with them so they can change their lives
and change others people’s lives too.
I decided I wanted
to go to college to study nursing. I knew it was going to be hard and difficult but that was my calling! And the right thing to
do. Thanks to God I had the amazing opportunity to meet wonderful people who
were going to help me make that dream happen.

I had to raise
money to pay for my first semester and let me tell you: fundraising it’s not
that easy but the good news is that when you have God by your side there’s
nothing impossible for you to do.
I’m not going to
say it was easy for me, it was a long period of reflection and to listen God’s
voice. I had to trust and believe that HE is in control of everything in our
lives and even when everything seems lost we have to remember that He chose us for a reason, He knows the plans He has for us.
5 : 45 am in His presence |
So now I’m finally a
college student, I can’t believe it yet; every single morning I have to wake up
at 5am to get ready, it was hard at first because I mean – who likes to wake up
at 5am? but now I like to think about how blessed I am to wake up at 5am and
get ready to go to college. There are millions of people out there who would
love to have the same opportunity than I do, millions of people who would love
to have a family just as the one you and I have, millions of people who would love
to have that piece of bread we are throwing into the trash. There are millions
of people who are desperate for love, people who need help, people who need us.
I encourage you to
think about how blessed you are to wake up every morning, think about how bless
you are for having a family, friends, job, food, clothes, car, house but more important
think about how blessed you are to have a good father who loves you and who
takes care of you every day. We may forget sometimes about him during the day
because of our busy busy lives but HE is always faithful and is always going to
be there for us.
I am the first one in my family in go to
college. Maybe you can imagine how proud my
family feel about me and it’s all
because of God and your help, I couldn’t do it without you. If you are reading
this I want to say thank you.! You are helping me, my family and my community.
As some of you know my big desire is to become a
missionary nurse one day, I want to share the gospel and heal people around the
world. For that reason, I am studying nursing, so I can make that happen. It is
not only for me, it is also for them .
Currently I am
attending to classes every day but I am still working at the church and helping
whenever I can. I’m tankful for this new opportunity in my life even thought my
life it’s super busy right now. I would love to keep you update and share with
you more stories about my student life so If you want to receive a monthly
update you can text me or email me: brendiuris2923@gmail.com
