Don't give up HOPE

Hey there! It’s been so long since I wrote something on my blog, mainly because I’ve been busy but also because I’ve felt a little empty these past couple of months, specially the resent ones.

I know we are all going through a lot right now and it’s easy to forget about other people’s needs when you are only focusing on yourself. It still blows my mind how everything changed around the world so quickly. Isn’t it crazy how things can change all of a sudden? It definitely makes you value the things we take for granted sometimes (family, friends, health, food, school, work, freedom to choose what you will do today, etc.)

Today I want to talk about HOPE. In the Bible hope is the confident expectation of what God has promised and its strength is in His faithfulness. There are so many quotes about hope: “hope is the only thing stronger than fear”, “out of a mountain of despair, a stone of hope”; “once you choose hope anything is possible”, “let your hopes, not your hurts shape your future” and so many more but. What does hope really mean? I know it could mean different things to different people but I’ve come to learn 4 aspects that could give a more powerful meaning to the word HOPE.

1.      H appines
Have you ever noticed that hopeful people are always happy? They are happy because they are confident that there will be a good outcome to the problems they are facing in their lives.
2.      O ptimistic
Optimistic means being hopeful and confident about the future. Trusting that everything is in God’s hands and he will do what is best for us at the right time.
3.      P eaceful
Hopeful people are at peace because they trust God’s plan and know He is always in control.
4.      E xpectation
Being in awe and expectation comes from knowing that the Lord holds our future and he has plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and future.

“Biblical hope not only desires something good for the future — it expects it to happen.” There are moments in life when we don’t know what’s going to happen, there’s so much uncertainty that it clouds our sight. When things look the darkest that’s when we have to rejoice in the suffering, knowing that suffering produces endurance and endurance produces character, and character produces hope. (Romans 5: 3-4)

I know is hard to not lose hope sometimes, especially when everything seems to be falling apart and you don’t know why. The worst thing we can do in times of uncertainty is to stop believing that something good will happen. When things don’t turn out our way that’s when we start losing hope and when we lose hope we go from a place of confidence and peace to a place of darkness, loss and discouragement.

We are all living difficult times right now. We all have problems, some problems might be bigger than others but they all matter. I want you think for a second how blessed you are even during this difficult times. By the time you read this most of you will be in the living room watching a show after eating a yummy dinner and will get ready to go to bed in a couple of hours, tomorrow you will get up go to the kitchen make yourself a cup of coffee, get some breakfast, maybe work from home and chill out the rest of the afternoon with your family. Now,   think about that family who won’t have anything to eat this week because they can’t go out to work, think about those kids who won’t be able to do their homework because they don’t have a computer and don’t have access to the internet. There are so many heartbreaking stories I could tell you and there are not only happening here in Ecuador but everywhere.

We don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow. The only thing we can know for sure of is that God  will never fail us and his promise will stand forever. For that reason I refuse to lose hope because I know the night won’t last forever and we will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Remember He is still enough even in the time of uncertainty. Our forgiveness was bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ and because he lives, so can we!

A good friend once told me it is ok to vulnerable and share your fears and weaknesses with others. So, today I want to be vulnerable with you and share what I’ve been going through. My relationship with God and myself haven’t been quick the greatest lately. There’s a lot going on, and staying hopeful has been a challenge. I know I’m not the first one to feel this way; we all have our ups and downs. Especially when it comes to ministry, there are things that can drain you and leave you exhausted.

I have to admit that I am physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually tired. I made the mistake of thinking I can do this on my own but no. I’m not sharing this with you because I want you to feel sorry for me or worry but because I need your prayers. If you know me you should know I am very emotional and it’s hard for me to say no. Most of the time I want to please people and make them happy because I care about them and love them but sometimes giving your 90% to others means you have little time to nourish yourself. I am now aware that my cup is empty and I need prayers. How can I pour into someone else’s cup if mine has nothing left inside?

Thank you so much for reading and keeping me and my family in your prayers. You are a blessing from God and I’m thankful to have you in my life.

SOMETHING YOU CAN PRAY FOR:
·        * Please pray for  my spirit, I’m looking for a mentor who can guide me during this time of uncertainty
·       *  Please pray for my studies (online classes are not fun) and learning how to balance my time between school, church and family.
·        * Please pray for serenity and peace of mind. I found myself trying to find answers that can’t be found, so I can rely on the Lord and rest in him.
·      * Please pray for my ministry in Cristo Liberador and especially with the junior group, it’s been challenging keeping up in contact and having bible studies since not all of them have access to the internet.
·        * Please pray for some of our families and students, this crisis has definitely hit us all but some people from the community really need your help ( send me a private message if you want to know how to help)
·       *  Please pray for all the doctors, nurses, first responders, policemen and all the people who are working really hard every day worldwide
·        * Please pray for new sponsors who would like to help me and be part of my journey.
