Dear friends,  I hope you are doing as well as possibly during this crazy time. Can you believe It’s been almost four years since I started writing on my blog about my college life and ministry here in Quito? Time does certainty fly. Doesn’t it? Today I start my last first day of class as a college student. It seems like yesterday when I was dreaming about going to college and becoming a nurse. Now, I am really close to become a real nurse and it’s freaking me out a little bit.    A lot has happened since my last blog post. I’ll try my best to catch you up with what has been happening here during the last months.    A Christmas out of the ordinary   I’m sure everyone’s Christmas was different this past year. Maybe you were expecting to spend the holidays with family and friends or had a trip planned that had to be cancelled. Maybe you were thinking about going away to the beach and couldn’t. I know COVID has ruined a lot of plans not just for you and me but...

Desperate for you

Dear friends,   I hope this letter finds you well. A lot has happened since my last blog post, I’ve been taking all my classes online, I’ve been leading two different bible studies, I’ve been giving English classes to some of my kids from and outside the church, I’ve been translating for some of the clergy meetings of my dioceses and I’ve also become a 24/7 nurse for my grandparents.   Life is crazy right now and I think we all are trying to adjust to our “new normal” It could be challenging but there’s nothing else we can do about it, right? This is one of those situations where the only thing you can do is pray and hope for the best. For me, having to lead online bible studies has been hard, especially when you are working with teenagers, I’m sure my youth minister friends will understand what I’m going through. It’s a little frustrating not being able to have in person bible studies with my kids, I hate it that I can’t take them to the park, to have ice cream or to t...

Hello there!  This past month has been rough, confusing and exhausting but yet hopeful. You may not be aware of this but my family tested positive for COVID a couple weeks ago. We wanted to keep it to ourselves at first but then we realized the love and support of family are essential when you go through something like this.    Quarantining  My dad was the first one to get sick and then me, my mom and my sister, at first we thought it was just the flu but it wasn’t. My dad went to the hospital to get tested and was positive, almost immediately my mom, my sister and I went to get tested but the results came back negative. We went to get tested again after a week due to the symptoms and the results came back positive the second time, except for my sister.  Dealing with a common cold or the flu is stressful enough but having to deal with this not well known virus was by far scary and exhausting. My dad’s symptoms were headache, tiredness, sore throat, d...
